The Churches Most Powerful Weapon
What is intercession?
Intercession means to stand in the gap. Ezek 22:30 (NIV) says, “I looked for someone among them who would build up the wall and stand before me in the gap on behalf of the land so I would not have to destroy it, but I found no one.”. Intercession can be used as a tool in different ways. Intercessory prayer can be used to: 1. Align ourselves with God through repentance and reconciliation to mankind 2. As a weapon that we yield against the enemy in spiritual warfare to end his attack/agenda against us. 3. To prophetically release God’s intended blessings over our lives to help us fulfill our destinies on earth. 4. To enter the courts of heaven and ask God the Judge to render a verdict on our behalf to end the attack/agenda of the enemy to hold us back from our destinies/callings.
What is the purpose of intercession?
To release the oil of God’s healing over our lives including those in relationship with us, the land we possess, and the roles God gave us to accomplish according to His plans and purposes for our lives.
Why is intercession necessary?
God declared by His own Words that man has dominion over the earth, therefore it had to be a man who took back the keys from Satan who deceived Adam and Eve in the garden. God gave His one and only Son Jesus Christ to the world as a gift (John 1:14) to take back the keys of dominion over the earth and now all authority in heaven and earth was given to Him (Matt 28:18) because of Christ’s sinless death and resurrection. Before Jesus ascended to heaven He gave mankind the keys of authority over the enemy, if we choose to take them and use them! Satan now, stripped of his authority continues to rule by deception and lies only. The only way we take back the territory that the enemy stole from mankind is by using the weapon of intercession! Matt 16:19 says, “I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.” (emphasis added). So because of Christ’s work on the cross, God’s reign in heaven is perfect, and God’s authority is expressed through his servants on earth as we partner and surrender to God’s way, not ours. God’s power is made manifest through us on earth (thy kingdom come Lord, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven). You and I have the power to take back the territory stolen by the enemy. Part of intercession is spiritual warfare. God desires to partner with mankind in His work on the earth through intercession.
